A horse bridle manufacturing company contracted us to program a
3d virtual trail ride 'ad-ware' minigame that showcased their product.
Players can choose from four different horses, each with different speeds and abilities,
as well as four different bridles. They can name their horse, and the game remembers
their selection the next time they play. You start out inside the stables, and from there
you are free to roam about the countryside, jumping over fences, following a gravel trail,
collecting trail markers. There is a barrel racing arena that you can test your best time on,
and you can even go off road and run along the seashore. There is even a babbling brook with an stone
bridge to cross.
The environment is animated in realtime 3d at very high framerates,
and the world is filled with detailed props such as hay, trees that cast
shadows on the ground, animated waves on the water, butterflies and birds that fly around in the sky,
animated slowly moving clouds in a realistic sky and much more.
Additional features included a streaming flash video intro and mp3 background music, as well as a working compass
that displays what direction you are facing.
Programmed using 3d studio max and Adobe Director 11.5, this game works in any web browser.
We also produced a standalone installable software version
that was completely self contained and required no plugins or browsers, and ran on both PC and Mac.
